Mangalorean Catholic Centre of the Parish (MCCP), Muscat, Sultanate of Oman is planning to celebrate its 26th annual day on May 11 this year in a grand manner. To soar the entertainment quotient and star power of the evening to an unprecedented level, the current favourite and highly popular Wilson Olivera has been invited to perform on this occasion.

MCCP’s 26th annual day will be celebrated with ‘Sangeeth Sardar’ Wilson Olivera and his team on May 11 evening at Le Grande Hall of Al Falaj Hotel, Muscat.

He will be accompanied by biggest names in Konkani music to bedazzle and enchant the entire community of Oman.

President Sunil Furtado and his executive committee members are all set to present an annual day gala that would have no parallels in the past in terms of grandeur, pomp and splendor. Wilson Olivera, who is considered as an ultimate finesse singer, is expected to bring the house down with his evergreen hits.

Sunil Furtado and his Team-26 consisting of Michael Goveas, Naveen Mascarenhas, Jane Castelino, Francis Pinto, Vijai D’Cunha, Terence D’Souza, Dynet Fernandes, Philomena Saldanha and Sam Suneel Menezes have done a commendable job throughout the year 2017-18 conducting various programmes that were well received by the community. The team ensured that all the regularly held events such as Mangalorean Sports Day, cricket tournament, Christmas carnival, spiritual day, drawing competition etc were conducted with tremendous enthusiasm to foster unity among the community members. They also conducted programmes like Career & Academic Excellence Workshop for students and a professional quiz contest for the wizards of the community. These programmes added new dimensions to the activities of MCCP.

To add to that streak, the team has broken away from the beaten path and is all ready to raise the bar of the annual day celebrations by having the Konkani music icon Wilson Olivera and his talented team.

After the grand success of ’50th Wilson Olivera Nite’ which had enthralled Konkani music lovers in Mangaluru recently, Sangeeth Sardhar Wilson Olivera is now ready to mesmerize the Muscat audience with his latest and popular compositions.

The ‘Wilson Olivera Nites’ have always reiterated success in terms of power-packed musical performances that has never failed to hit house-full. Wilson Olivera has seven super hit music albums to his credit and contributed his compositions to the super hit Konkani movie ‘Noshibacho Khell’ and also hosted 50 successful musical shows at Mangaluru, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar etc. Memorable moments of each show have left a special mark in the Konkani hearts.

Olivera has also been bestowed with titles ‘Konkan Manik’ and ‘Konkani Surdas’ and has been awarded with the prestigious, ‘Konkani Kala Samaj Puraskar’ in 1995, ‘Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Award’ in 2003, ‘Divo Sahitya Puraskar’ in 2008 and ‘Sandesha Award’ in 2018.

Ronald Olivera, the music maestro’s younger brother, does the honors of being the master of ceremony for this musical nite. A prolific speaker with mastery in anchoring programmes in five different languages has not only won the hearts of Konkani lovers, but also people of other languages.

The genius music director Roshan D’Souza Angelore, will make this event a perfect amalgamation of mesmerizing music for Olivera’s compositions. Having directed music for the Konkani film ‘Noshibacho Khell’ and several Konkani musical shows, he has already proved a mark in this arena.

Along with Wilson, we also have renowned singers who are well-known in the Konkani world of music and who with their harmonious voices have been contributing factors in the success of Wilson’s many music albums and shows.

This annual day of MCCP will also witness talented dance groups which will treat the audience to a round of truly astounding and breath taking moves. A comedy troupe with rib-tickling jokes and one-liners, are bound to make the audience burst into peals of laughter.
