SECRETARY: MELITA SHEELA ALVA

A pleasant and smiling persona, Melita Alva is the eldest daughter of Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Emelia Cornelio from Kallianpur. A confident and versatile personality, she has served in the Executive Committee during the Silver Jubilee year of MCCP.   is a semi-finalist of Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season-4.

Besides being active in various spheres, she is a “Gold Medalist” from Manipal University and has won several laurels such as “Best Outgoing Student, Best Nurse Researcher” and many more awards. Melita is married to Prabhat Alva, and has two; son Lael and daughter Leanne. Like her parents, she and her husband strive to imbibe family tradition along with modern values in daily life. They believe that children should always be rooted to their traditions and moral values and are happy that her children are fluent in speaking Konkani and are proud of their mother tongue. She believes that family is the essence of the community and children are its pillars. The family of four, is well-talented and active in all MCCP events; they often perform as a family at various events and also enjoy to the maximum.

After completion of MPhil Nursing, she moved to Oman 6 years ago and is currently working as Senior Faculty in Oman College of Health Science, Ministry of Health. With several years of teaching experience, she is a nurse educator by profession; well-known for her dedication to teaching and is very much loved by her students. Melita has varied interests and hobbies-in singing, dance, outdoor sports, reading and interior decoration.

She has been an active member of MCCP and desires to utilize her potential for the betterment of the community. Melita shares, “For all of us here far away from our families, MCCP is a platform where we can associate with people of our own language and culture, definitely to make this place a home away from home. I am glad to be a part of Team-27, a perfect combination of dynamism and dedication and will do my best for the betterment of our community to the best of my capacity now and during the years to come”.
