Mangalore: MCCP Muscat Distributes Scholarships Worth Rs 11.25 Lac<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mangalore, Nov 7:\u00a0Mangalorean Catholic Center of the Parish (MCCP), Muscat on Wednesday November 7 distributed scholarships to 31 students and provided financial support to three parishes and seven organizations during a ceremony held at Milagres Church hall here.\u00a0Altogether, scholarships and financial support rendered by MCCP amounted to Rs 11.25 lac.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

\u00a0A number of needy students\u00a0from primary to degree\u00a0were given scholarships. The parishes and organizations which received financial support through MCCP were St Francis Assisi, Nainad, Mandd Sobhann, Bellary diocese, St Joseph College of Engineering, Vamanjoor, Kuloor Church, Seon Ashram, Ladyhill School, St Joseph Seminary, Jeppu, Gulbarga Diocese, St Antony Church, Chikmagalur.<\/p>\n

Fr Francis Gomes, principal of Milagres College was the chief guest. Sr Aloysius, Stany Alvares, president of Mandd Sobhann, and Stany Fernandes, president of MCCP shared the dais and handed over the scholarships and funds.<\/p>\n

In his introductory message, Stany Fernandes said that the association since its inception in 1992 has been contributing towards the welfare of the society. “The funds given to the needy are collected through organizing various programmes in Muscat,” he added.<\/p>\n

He said that\u00a0a number of needy students especially from Mangalore, Gulbarga and Bellary dioceses\u00a0are given scholarships.<\/p>\n

Fr Gomes appreciated the services rendered by MCCP and wished the members success in their future endeavours. “Empowering students is the best help one can extend,” he said, congratulating the beneficiaries of the scholarships.<\/p>\n

Sr Aloysius lauded MCCP for its concern towards the needy students. “These days people hesistate to make sacrifices for others but MCCP has sacrificed a part of their savings,” she said, adding that the work done by MCCP was commendable.<\/p>\n

She also asked the students to contribute some part of their earnings to the needy once they start working.<\/p>\n

Mangalorean Catholic Centre of the Parish (MCCP) Muscat, held a Children’s Education Support programme in Milagres Church hall, here on November 7. The programme began with welcoming the gathering, followed by he President of MCC, Stanley Fernandes delivering the keynote address. The funds worth Rs 11.25 lakhs were distributed to 32 students, 3 Parishes and 7 Organizations by Fr Xavier Gomes, Sr Aloysia and Stany Alvares.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering Sr Aloysia from St Agnes institutions recalled a story of 2 orphan students who were interested to pursue their higher education were helped by Pio Padre. When Pio Padre was in need for food because of the drought in his country, the same Orphan boy who was in a high position in the US, helped Padre Pio, sending 2 ship full of food.<\/p>\n

Further Sr Aloysia said that the moral of the story is, the MCCP has rendered their helping hand and it is the duty of the students who have benefited to give it back when they can afford to do so. She urged the students not to become corrupt in their work but to become responsible citizens of the country. Students should take up their education seriously and learn to help others.<\/p>\n

Principal, Milagres College, Fr Xavier Gomes speaking on the occasion said, “Our religion teaches, do not let your left hand know what your right hand does, for it is not worth knowing . At present times it is better to tell the charity work one does so that it encourages others to do charity. Literacy, empowerment and attitude of the people will make the country successful. Any country which is prospering has high literacy rate. I appreciate the good deeds of MCCP towards educating the students in their home town”..<\/p>\n
