Hailing from a traditional, typical Mangalorean agriculturist family of Amembal, Boliyar parish and now moved to Cordel, Kulshekar, he is the youngest (poosunghallo polo) of the seven children to Mr. John and Mrs. Alice. Schooling was at native place till the 10th std., and moved to Bombay as guided by the eldest brother. Philip is married to Prescilla and blessed with a daughter Phiyola. He is currently working as Chief Accountant in Assarain Food Products LLC.

Philip, a self-made man, studied while earning, since his age of 16, by giving tuitions when he was in pre-university board and subsequently at his earning age of 18, legally started working with a Pharmacist as he pursued his bachelor’s degree. To be more competent and qualified, he pursued diploma qualifications in Finance Management. ‘Study as you earn’ was not by choice. Else, the limitations of family income would restrict him to be a less literate farmer. The aspiration of being a literate and place himself in a respectable dignified status motivated him to achieve his goal in life. Accordingly, for competent job assignments, he moved to Oman in 1992 and since then working for private sectors, playing with numbers…. as a qualified Accountant. Philip, as he lived his dreams, also supported the large family.

Though a diehard fan of cricket who forgets food and sleep…! by nature is a reserved person. However, it is surprising to enjoy his serious and intelligent humour. ‘Discovery’ and National Geographical channels are his favourite watch on Television, while he also enjoys comedy. He is basically a very simple person by nature, thus swifts his ways through any serious and complicated situations. Silent worker, soft spoken and ever ready to serve qualities makes him favourite amongst the folks he mingles with. He does not rest, until he accomplishes the assignment or the commitment he agrees upon.

Smart at numbers and qualified finance personnel himself, is a very good planner and thinks ahead, that is an added quality of a Visionary. He always welcomes changes and tries to implement them for the betterment for inculcating interest in every activity and never likes to waste time or material, as he realizes the hardship to achieve and reach the goal, so also his heart moves for the less fortunate who are deprived of such facilities or utilities. He loves travelling and explore new things. Very affectionate by nature, Philip enjoys music and his unique talent of instant funny simple compositions with offbeat tunes, is worth enjoying.

He has always felt, MCCP should pave ways for the new people and young generation by promoting sports, art and culture of their interest, and once they are strong within the community, should groom them to retain the original ‘Mangy’ identity the only way to continue living our culture and tradition to last long. Philip strongly believes in ‘Wear the shoes of the person you intend to change, live his / her way, win the confidence and then bring in the change. – It works”.

Changes are always for better. ‘Move with the wind’ phrase should be the theory to keep the momentum on…! And that is demanded of MCCP today.

 Long Live MCCP.
