ASTRIN D’SILVA

Taking after her father, whom she considers her inspiration and with the continual dedication of her mother in enhancing her talents, Astrin has been actively involved in extra-curricular activities right from the age of three.

Astrin holds a Masters in International Events Management from Leeds Metropolitan University, U.K. and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from St. Aloysius College, Mangalore. She has won numerous accolades for herself in singing, public speaking, art & craft and poetry writing. She has immense passion for dancing and has also passed Level 1 in Bharatanatyam (Indian Classical Dance Form). Having undergone training, she has performed various dance forms – Indian, International and Contemporary at various events and has also choreographed dances on numerous occasions. She been honoured with the Most Talented Participant Award by the KonkanniNatakSabha, Mangalore and the Most Talented School Pupil Leader by the Mangalore Musical Cultural Association during her time. She has been the first student coordinator to handle Pre-Unique, an Indian National Level College Fest at St. Aloysius College, Mangalore. She also has the experience of working with two IIFA Awards (Bollywood Oscars) in 2009 and 2010, in Macau (China) and Colombo (Sri Lanka) and has been the blog writer of various Bollywood celebrities in the past. She holds over a year of experience in Public Relations and Corporate Communications. She has worked with Genesis Burson – Marsteller in Bangalore, Wizcraft International Entertainment Ltd., Mumbai and Sukumar Total Solutions – An Events Management Company.

A muti-talented youth, she has also been a Freelance Journalist for the Times of India and Daijiworld.com. She has served as a Part-time lecturer in Economics and Personality Development at Colaco College of Management in Mangalore. She has also been the lyricist of School Songs and NurseryRhyme Albums released in Bangalore, India. She is the member of Band Aria, a local beat group in Oman and compeers for various events and parties in the Sultanate.

The list is endless about her talents and capabilities, which gives confidence to the community that young generation is stronger than yester years.  Astrin is presently employed at Travel City/ Travel Point LLC and handles the Marketing and Corporate Communications Division for the Travel Group. Astrin D’Silva, hails from Mangalore and is the youngest daughter of Mrs & Mr Rudolph and Jessie D’Silva from Bendur.  She has an older brother who resides with his family in Kuwait.

A vibrant youth in the Committee, is expecting to encash the opportunity provided through the theme of the year ‘Youth – our Strength, our Future’ by exploring all possibilities through the guidance of the seniors, to bring the youth out of the cocoon hiding in the comfort zone of education and technology, forgetting that their talents and youth-hood can be contributed to the community promising a better future in the years to come.  She personally wants to lead from the front inspiring them and prove to them their potential is advantageous for the community’s growth essentially required for the survival of Mangalorean tradition and culture which is praise worthy.  Astrin’s dream is to have a vibrant youth strengthened and nurture them as the leaders of tomorrow.

    Just recently i heard you singing for oman in the semi-finals of GVOM-14 for the song ULO. It was brilliant and i wished u would have qualified, but no problems u r already a star. Keep it up. Pray for ur energy.
